Ever since the introduction of the “Practice Strategies” course in Scandinavian countries, the results of music students have improved by 22%. How can you practice music meaningfully? Recorder player Bart Spanhove knows 1001 inspiring and challenging exercises, strategies and techniques with which the participants will be able to independently improve their music studies and practice. After all, 95% practicing takes place without a teacher, so learning how to practice effectively is important. In this workshop, participants will try out different practicing methods: an innovative way of reading music based on laws of Gestalt psychology, the importance of mental practice and memory study, and the ideas of Rotierende Aufmerksamkeit where the focus is always on a different point. Learning how to learn is life's most important skill. Bart Spanhove wrote his insights in the book The Finishing Touch to Practising.
