ORDA-2026 presents an exciting new part of the festival programme: the Fringe Ensemble Competition. The Fringe Ensemble Competition is open to (pre-)professional ensembles including at least one recorder player and consisting of at least two or more players. The competition is open to recorder consorts and broken consorts (including singers), consisting of students pursuing a professional degree on recorder and young professional players under the average age of 35. The instrumentation of the ensembles must be based on equal voices, i.e. basso continuo is not permitted.
The finalists of the Open Recorder Days Amsterdam Fringe Ensemble Competition 2026 have been selected:
The final took place on 12 July 2026 at 14:00 at Rode Hoed, Amsterdam. During this event, each ensemble presented programme of 15 minutes to the jury and audience. The final concert was included in the official festival programme.

The jury may award one or more cash prizes to participating ensembles, with a maximum total amount of €2.000, next to which the jury may award a Renaissance Consort Prize of €650, sponsored by the Adriana Breukink Memorial Fund. In addition, a separate performance prize (paid concert engagements in professional concert series in the Netherlands) may be awarded.
