Fringe Ensemble Competition

ORDA-2026 presents an exciting new part of the festival programme: the Fringe Ensemble Competition. The Fringe Ensemble Competition is open to (pre-)professional ensembles including at least one recorder player and consisting of at least two or more players. The competition is open to recorder consorts and broken consorts (including singers), consisting of students pursuing a professional degree on recorder and young professional players under the average age of 35. The instrumentation of the ensembles must be based on equal voices, i.e. basso continuo is not permitted.

The finalists of the Open Recorder Days Amsterdam Fringe Ensemble Competition 2026 have been selected:

The final will take place on 12 July 2026 at 14:00 at Rode Hoed, Amsterdam. During this event, each ensemble will present programme of 15 minutes to the jury and audience. The final concert is included in the official festival programme, and admission is free.

In the lead-up to ORDA 2026, further information about the ensembles and their programmes will be published on our social media channels (Instagram and Facebook) and on our newsletter.

The jury may award one or more cash prizes to participating ensembles, with a maximum total amount of €2.000, next to which a separate performance prize (paid concert engagements in professional concert series in the Netherlands) may be awarded.
