DREAM – In Search of a Sound
A documentary about Adriana Breukink, pioneering recorder maker, performer and innovator.
From an early age, Adriana was driven to reinvent the sound of the recorder. After studying with Ricardo Kanji and Frans Brüggen, and training with maker Fred Morgan at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, she began developing her own vision for the instrument: shaping the recorder into a fully fledged voice for contemporary music.
The film features interviews with leading recorder players and collaborators, alongside performance footage from The Royal Wind Music and Adriana’s very own Bassano Quartet.
Commissioned by the Adriana Breukink Memorial Fund and directed by Daniël Brüggen, the documentary premieres at Open Recorder Days Amsterdam 2026 before its release on DVD and streaming platforms.
