An ensemble workshop for advanced recorders players eager to dive deep into the art of recorder orchestra playing
This workshop is dedicated to the lower 8-foot (and 16-foot) register of the recorder family. We will explore the deep, warm tones of repertoire ranging from the Renaissance through the Baroque and Classical periods to the Romantic era, exclusively arranged by Simon Borutzki.
We will place special focus on intonation, phrasing, articulation, and a flexible tempo to bring this repertoire to life.
Creating a homogeneous sound, similar to a string chamber orchestra or vocal ensemble, is one of the key challenges in this workshop.
Please choose one recorder size for the workshop, as we do not switch recorders during the session.
Kindly avoid bringing plastic (with the exception of Resona), Renaissance, or Early Baroque recorders, as well as Paetzold Basset or Paetzold Great Bass recorders.
Recommended recorder models:
Tenor in C = Moeck Rondo/Rottenburgh || Küng Superio/Marsyas
Bass(et) in F = Küng Superio || Yamaha YRB-61
Great Bass in C = Küng Superio || Yamaha YRGB-61
Contrabass in F = Küng Superio || Paetzold by Kunath
