This program explores the expressive and technical possibilities of the recorder. In Altopiani / Altri spazi, Federico Gardella creates a multiplicity of spaces through a counterpoint of gestures, each defined by a distinct mode of sound production. Sumio Kobayashi’s Sounds from the Forests are... evokes the atmospheric stillness of a deep forest, translating the whispers of nature into musical form. The works by Hosokawa, Sciarrino, and Ferneyhough—all originally composed for the flute—represent a significant expansion of the recorder's repertoire. They unveil "hidden faces" of the instrument.
